Established
in 1843, Sheffield Hallam University is one of the largest and most popular
Universities in the UK. It is a welcoming community for students and staffs. It
has 31,500 students on campus out of which around 3,400 are International
students from 120 countries. With more than 31,500 students, we are among the
largest universities in the UK.
We
offer exceptional teaching across foundation, undergraduate, postgraduate and research
degree programmes. The University has four faculties offering 700 courses
including undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD options which all focus on
developing the specialist knowledge needed to excel in future careers. We embed
work experience and real-world case studies into our teaching, so you have many
opportunities to put your learning into practice. Every year, we offer our
students more than 19,000 placements in organisations including Adidas, SAP,
Hilton International, Sony and the BBC. We work with thousands of
organisations, from HSBC to the NHS, and these industry partners help design
our courses and give students the experience and contacts they need to make
their CV stand out to future employers. Many of our courses are accredited by
professional associations and bodies.
We are interested in
practical solutions to complex real-world challenges. This approach drives our
world-leading research across a broad spectrum of disciplines, in areas as
diverse as science, sport, social science, arts and engineering. Our research
excellence is now ranked in the top five of all UK modern universities, moving
up 25 places in the UK’s most recent Research Excellence Framework.
We guarantee to help you
find accommodation which suits your needs, taste and budget - all within easy
walking distance of our two campuses. Accommodation in Yorkshire, the region
where Sheffield is located, is among the cheapest in the UK with average rent
prices less than half the cost of accommodation in London (Homelet Survey, 2016).
We have overseas offices
in Malaysia, India, Pakistan, China and Nigeria to support you as you prepare
to begin your studies in Sheffield. Our dedicated International Experience Team
organise events and activities to help you settle into University life and meet
people from all over the world.
Outstanding facilities
Our
students benefit from access to our world-class facilities. We’re constantly
updating and adding to the facilities, with £72 million invested in new
buildings since 2014. This means 24-hour libraries, student-designed study
areas, excellent sports facilities and the same equipment which our graduates
will use in their future workplaces, whether it’s an aeroplane manufacturer, a
software engineering company or a hospital.
A vibrant city with a low cost of
living
Sheffield is
a welcoming, multicultural city with a rich and proud history. It is a safe,
friendly and affordable place to live, which is why it is the study destination
of choice for more than 60,000 students. The city also offers the best of both
worlds, with all the amenities, culture and entertainment of a big city and the
peaceful, green spaces of the countryside.
